Samuel V. Butcher graduated in May,1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ohio Northern University where he was recipient of the Smith, Kline, & French Laboratories’ Award for superior achievement in clinical pharmacy and the Rexall Award for outstanding achievement. He became a registered pharmacist in Ohio in 1977 and thereafter practiced in major medical institutions and retail environments through November, 1984.

During that same time, Sam pursued his legal education at the Cleveland Marshall College of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in December, 1982. He was admitted to the bar in Ohio and entered the practice of law as an assistant prosecuting attorney for Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

Sam learned the inner workings of the insurance industry as house counsel for the Allstate Insurance Company in Cleveland before joining Stewart and DeChant as an associate in 1989. Sam became a partner of the firm in November, 1993.

Sam is a Fellow of the American Society for Pharmacy Law and a Barrister of the Judge Anthony J. Celebrezze Inns of Court of the National Inns of Court Foundation. In addition to being a Director of the Cleveland Academy of Trial Attorneys, he holds membership in the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the American Bar Association, the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Ohio State Bar Association, and the Cleveland Bar Association. In addition to all Ohio Courts, Sam is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.

Because of Sam’s special knowledge of pharmacy, the concentration of his practice is in the area of medical and dental negligence, though he actively pursues cases on behalf of individuals who have suffered injury from a variety of causes such as automobile collisions, fall downs, and medicare appeals.
